I changed my previous painting... painting lighter colors over the ridges to create crests on the ridges. It's still abstract but it has more depth now I think.
Nice work here, I like it better, the crests are definitely a great addition. Although the pattern you're scrapping in is far too inconsistent. I guess you could say it's a visual effect of distance..
Very nice. The lighter ridges do give it the feel of a choppy ocean. The colours work really well; makes me guess what might be reflecting in the water, feels like it might be in a busy port or city lights.

it's more the impression of the water without actually being water, that's why I didn't try to make it look like it. the pattern is inconsistent because it's more compositionally interesting than the same strokes over and over..

Well, if you looks at water, pool water would be better for this example, the wave patterns are very much alike, although different. The difference between the patterns on the lower side and the higher side is too much for it to be taken out of the same water.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
